An Amber Alert has been canceled after two young children who were abducted have been found safe and their father was taken into custody after the suspicious death of their mother.
The New Hampshire State Police authorized the activation of the alert system on Friday morning, March 1 after their 31-year-old mother, Caitlyn Niffziger, was found dead in connection with the children's disappearance, according to the state's attorney general's office.
The girls, ages 4 and 1, were found in Keene, New Hampshire on Friday, March 1 about 160 miles south of Berlin, where they had been last seen on Thursday, Feb. 29, at approximately 8 p.m. with their biological father, 37-year-old Dustin Mark Duren.
Police say he was operating a white 2017 Subaru Impreza.
According to a report by ABC affiliate WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH, a person who had seen the Amber Alert spotted the vehicle at an Applebee's parking lot in Keene and contacted police.
